WORK 3

A circular structure with a faint yellow centre, slung low on the wall and with red pencil lines connecting it to [Work 4] at the point where the floor and the wall meet. [Work 3] & [Work 4] are co-dependents as well as responsive to the architecture of the room and the work of Moyra Derby (for example the staggered red pencil lines at the top reflect the angle of ‘Painting Cabinet’ by Moyra and recurring thoughts across the whole exhibition on movement and change could be momentarily anchored somehow if [Work 3] is visioned as a track to cross, or a path along which Moyra’s ‘Painting Cabinet’ and ‘Composition Table’ might trundle.

WORK 4

A graphite drawing spans the floor connecting the two opposite walls and works in the room. Originally I saw it as a kind of crankshaft or ‘drive’ for the room. Halfway along it responds to the squares found on Moyra Derby’s ‘Painting Cabinet’ – and the bevelled end of it mirrors the angle taken by the bottom left ‘arm’ of Moyra’s ‘Co-ordinates for RAUMX’ (by finding a line of symmetry along the ‘fold’ between the wall and the floor – see video. ^). The long thin area that the drawing occupies is made by rubbing away the dirt on the floor – can be seen well in the video.
